Beautiful things...

Hello again my friend. It's bitterly cold today and so here I sit, fire lit, ready to hunker down for the weekend. I will collect the Boos from school and gather provisions and we will chillax on the sofa. I have it all planned out.

Another busy work week for me; my work life is like a 'deja-vu' from this time last year so I am spending my days trying learn the lessons from the last big and extremely challenging project I was involved with. My mantra is 'you can only do your best, you can only do your best!' More soul-searching about whether to work or not and precious input from different friends. One friend who made me think maybe I think too much! So I am trying a new approach; it's simple - smile, let it go, be kind and others will be kind to you. Slightly abstract but worth a try! What do you think?

...ever classic, even in a raincoat, Olivia P...

I like this simple room; boats and feather pictures and white-washed walls...

If only I weren't, but I so am...

Really really tried hard to stop and take time to read this week; it's not gone that well. A couple of pages here and there...

Time for some 80's nostalgia... 'what a feeling...'

...the 'sorry and aren't you clever scene' from Flashdance...

I have the first blooming hyacinths of the season in my house and they smell divine...

Yet more Danish art...

My monster house de-clutter continues...I love this laundry room; what better use for a dolls house?

Have a serene weekend...

  1. Your weekend plan sounds amazing. Your philosophy for work seems like the great line from Conan O Brien I have above my desk

"If you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen"

  2. Louise, simple is the key - just enjoy life, smile, be happy, don't worry too much, try your best at work but don't stress it too much.

Enjoy your weekend with the Boos. Stay warm!

  3. I think, once a thinker, always a thinker!!

Embrace the way you are - it's okay. Nothing wrong with thinking a lot. And I have come to the conclusion that you can't essentially change who you are - and actually it's not healthy to try to do so.

From where I am standing, it would seem to me that you have a lot of security in your life and therefore perhaps it is the fact that you have a solid foundation that enables you to ponder so much and go back and forth on things. As I always tell my daughter, better to think too much - to be thoughtful and pensive and to consider all sides - than to not think at all.

But then I am your friend and friends tend to think their friends are perfect....so what do I know ;)

Sounds like we may be having similar week-ends, keep warm and have a lovely time. Gorgeous images this Friday Lou xxxx

  4. I am an over thinker and have on many occasions found that just being kind to myself and letting things go is the only way.
    Have a great weekend x

  5. Definately worth a try! (an overthinker too here).
What I try to stick to is doing by best and not just to please others because more often than not, you'll get no thanks for it so you might as well go with what YOU feel is right.

  6. I love looking at your posts of gorgeousness on a Friday morning. Thinking is not a bad thing at all - I think it's a good thing. That said, I do agree that at some point we have to let things go so we can just be and enjoy life. Your weekend sounds perfect - much like mine. I'm on my own with the boys this weekend, so I'll be attempting to get them to chillax with me! ;-)

  8. I agree with Simone. Better think than not to think. That is what I think.. :)

In stark contrast to your Wintery bliss (it always sounds like bliss when so far away from it..) we are having a scorcher of a week. High 30C and blazing sun. Don't know when I last wore make-up, did my hair, or wore proper clothes.. Seems like I am one big Summery mess of sand, sunscreen and salty water these days. Am enjoying it to the full! :)

    Hugs from Summer-wonderland!

    xx Charlotta

P.S. As you know we're moving back to Europe in just a few months. First a year or so in Sweden and then back to London. May I pick your head on the London bit.. ? Have never lived there with kids.. charlottaward@y7mail.com

  9. Lovely post and I tend to agree (being a Psychologist) that we can think and analyze too much. Sometimes it really is better to let go, and see what unfolds. Usually you will be pleasantly surprised.Things usually pan out better than you could have envisaged.
    Gorgeous images by the way.

  12. I think too much too Lou ~ I was told this week at work to just smile and nod and I have a very hard time doing that and keeping my mouth shut! Loving that last pic. Hope you are having a wonderful week-end. xo

  13. LOU!!!
Here I am, finally replying to you. SO sorry it has taken so long. there has been quite some drama regarding my passport and not being able to go to paris this weekend which you can read in full rambleness on my blog haha.
But YES i have got the gorgeous clutch! i love it so much. it is so beautiful. its even more beautiful in real life. i cant wait to use it in Paris (we are now going thursday morning) i know exactly what i am going to wear it with. Thank you so much.

In regards to your post - i love this one! such beautiful images as usual :) i agree on the trying not too think too much and just see how everything unfolds for itself on most cases and thats how i usually live my life. However, i feel that if you were to completely change your way of doing and dealing with things then you might feel even more at ends with what to do. And this work related topic seems like a reasonable sized one, so extra thought seems like its needed. And you are the best at considering everything. its a good trait and who you are :)

I think i just think what Simone thinks too. I am your friend and friends do tend to think their friends are perfect dont they :)

i hope you are having a lovely weekend Lou.

  14. The doll's house solution really livens up that laundry. What a creative way of putting things away!

  15. Oooooh that dollhouse is to die for! Clever . Unfortunately the plastic barbie wonder I've got going here won't quite do it. Been meaning to share on last post but so in the tank , beaten down , I haven't been able to :(
It'll get better. Sadly being kind doesn't always get kind.
