Things of beauty...

Busy busy week...everything is taking pace now as if in sync with the month of November. The work decision: I have to admit I took the easy road. After a bit of soul searching I decided, why make life hard for myself? I work because I enjoy it; simple as that. Every now and then my ego gets the better of me and I feel like I could...in fact I positively should...progress and grow. I was asked to consider a bigger role, something completely different, very much out of my comfort zone. Ultimately though I decided against it. I work part time and this role required a lot more than that. I have made my choices; I want to be there to collect my kids after school, so I said 'no'. Helped along the way to this decision by my trusted confidants who asked that insightful question as they know me so well - 'do you really want to take this on Lou? Think about it, picture the scene...'. So there you go, we live and learn.

And so to beautiful things of classic elegance...

via from me to you

I am so tired this week after nights of broken sleep, I am wishing for some time here:

Beautiful Helena Christensen...

A room for a reader...

Molly Ringwald in crisp, white shirt elegance...

I think I need to advertise this list to those who know me...I am a true introvert...

Marion Cottilard in the coolest dress...

Cary Grant on a  rainy sidewalk...

Wonderful images as alway Lou....that "family" shoot over at Dustjacket Attic was so lovely wasn't it, the "mother" is stunning.

  3. The pictures are lovely, I can't even pick a favorite!!

Good for you on your decision regarding work. I actually did make the decision to take the "bigger" job and was miserable within a few months. Now I'm back to working part time from home and it's where I want to be. It's a struggle for sure when you have little people to consider!!!

    Have a wonderful relaxing weekend!!!

ps love the posts this week

  4. 1. Hard work vs The Easy Road equals Live to Work vs Work to Live. I would much rather work to live.

    2. Helena was always my favourite (original) supermodel.

    3. How to care for introverts: will print for all new acquaintances.

    4. Emma Watson: stunning. Long hair or short hair, whatever. Stunning.

    5. I love your Things of Beauty. Have a great weekend. x

  5. Love the 'How to Care for Introverts'... I think I might have to run a copy off for the hubby. He's definitely an introvert and these are all his pet peeves. I think he would stick it on his office door. Love the shot of Marilyn... so beautiful. Have a great weekend. Lx

  6. Oh that picture of Marion - that dress! I could become a dress person for that one. Also love the pic of Molly - such an original beauty. The introvert rules are perfect and definitely hit home. Especially the last one.

I am sure the work decision was a tough one to make. It's hard to make those kinds of sacrifices. I've had to turn down roles/jobs as well - ones that required travel, and I simply can't do that anymore. My boys have taken over on top of the priority list. It is hard, though, and it has definitely led to frustration at work, when I feel like I could (and should) be doing more. In the end, though, I know I've made the right call, especially when I'm getting hugs from my little men.

    Have a happy weekend!

  12. Congratulations on making a great decision. It is hard not to 'jump' at an exciting opportunity, but I know so well what you mean about being there for the kids and maintaining life balance. Bet that decision wasn't easy.. Well done!

Your pictures of classic beauty are stunning. Love all the female style icons and the interior shots are equally yummy.

Have a fabulous week my dear.

P.S. The introvert list is so true. I am an introvert in disguise.. The kind people always mistake for an extrovert. I will print and spread your list. xx
