It's Monday...

posted on: Monday, 19 May 2014

I've been sick; really not much fun. Especially as the summer weather started and I was bedridden, husband away in San Francisco and the kids with their usual punishing schedules. Modern malaise? I have surfaced today. I did more online browsing that I knew what to do with. My conclusion:

I look at my blog reader and see blog after blog after blog featuring products. What happened to the people who just have something to say about life? What are the best, honest blogs out there? I would love to read something real as well as the latest beauty product, fashion item, hotel. Please say who's good...has real blogging dried up?!!

Summer wardrobe? I simply wanted a few thrilling little additions; could I find them? Hell, no. What is the deal? Everything I like is either astronomically expensive or just like everything else you see? Nothing caught my eye and believe me I tried!

As you can see I am grouchy...

Meanwhile, the house build has ground to a halt and due to soil contamination under our house we currently have a moat of water and mud in our garden and not much else. Don't even ask! I am trying to stay upbeat. What happened the joys of styling white-washed walls and stripped floorboards? We are so far away from that it's not even funny!

Do you know what? I am thinking I need to stop writing and get over my pity party and come back when I am in a better mood...happy Monday :-)

  2. This might be the grumpiest post I've ever read! Perfect for a Monday. I love the honesty and can feel your frustration in your writing. Of course you know it's just a day and will turn around soon. Warm weather colds are the worst - just as the sun comes out, and you just want to crawl back in bed - bleh. I hope you feel better. I have no advice on clothes - I actually found the same thing. I managed to find a couple tunics but was hoping to find a couple cute summer tops, maybe a fun pair of sandals...just something new! which I don't often do. I came up mostly empty as well.

I'm also in the same spot on blogs. I haven't added any new blogs to my reader in forever - actually, I've removed quite a few, so the number I follow keeps decreasing. I just want to see a real voice, and one that I have something in common with. I'll let you know if I run across a fresh blog with actual writing.

And good luck with the house! I know all too well the frustrations. I had to try to focus on other things since it was so out of my control....easier said than done of course.

Hope you're back to your happy self soon!

  3. Your probably feeling better already! I've also noticed some blogs have started to advertise, a lot. I've dropped a few because of it. I do like, From the House of Edward. No advertising. Hope your having a better day today.

  7. Change your thinking and you will change your life because with your negative thoughts you
do attract all negative sides. Try it and you will see that success will follow soon. I wish you
    good luck.

  10. I completely feel this way about the blog world, and feel that maybe I'm entering that relm. I'd don't get paid for my recs, but it's certainly a shop heavy blog. I struggle with this all the time! I don't know what the answer is, I've considered shutting down the blog so many times, but know that I share this sentiment.

    xx
